Winter in Glacier National Park: Formal Engagement Inspo at Lake McDonald
Rohan + Teena wanted jaw-dropping engagement photos in Glacier National Park, and my friend Jaci Vigil delivered. Just freaking look at these two. This sweet couple hired me to tag along during their session with Jaci to film an engagement film for them to play at their December wedding, and I’m so glad they did! I love taking on creative projects like this and collaborating with other talented photographers.

This shoot took place in March, so much of Glacier National Park was still under a heavy layer of snow. Fun fact: Going to the sun Road is only open for a few short months every year, so winter sessions are confined to a small area of the park near the entrance!
Luckily enough for all of us, Lake McDonald is located right inside the park and is one of the top must-see destinations — for good reason! The crystal-clear waters, colorful rocks, and gorgeous mountain views have inspired plenty of drool-worthy photos that you might have seen on Pinterest or Instagram.

When conceptualizing their engagement film, Teena and Rohan expressed that they wanted to showcase the beautiful landscape while still making the film itself upbeat and fun to reflect their real selves. I love the way their formal outfits juxtaposed the casual clothes they changed into in the final film — Jaci and I encouraged them to play in the snow, take in the landscape together, and we even took a few shots of tequila.

Perhaps my favorite part of this session was when I handed over my camera for Rohan and Teena to direct each other for some shots. With the right couple, this creates magic. I love when the camera shows how partners see one another — their playful sides come out when they’re posing, blowing kisses, and laughing at their significant other filming them.
