Rainy Glacier National Park Micro-Wedding at Avalanche Amphitheater

Tristan and Morgan’s micro-wedding in west Glacier National Park was the epitome of a perfect moody day in the park — rainy, fog surrounding the mountains, and the deep lush greens that GNP is known for. We had such a blast getting these two hitched at Avalanche Amphitheater, followed by an adventure session at Lake McDonald, and then an intimate dinner with their loved ones at Whitefish Lake restaurant.

Tristan + Morgan’s Glacier National Park Micro-Wedding

Tristan and Morgan came all the way from SW Minnesota to get married in Glacier National Park — these two had initially planned on a large traditional wedding, but it didn’t feel right to them. After doing some research, they realized they could tie the knot in the park AND have their closest loved ones in attendance — a micro-wedding really is the best of both worlds if your personalities are well-suited to an adventure elopement, but you can’t imagine starting your marriage without close friends and family. Read all about how Tristan and Morgan made it happen below!

Getting ready at Hidden Moose Lodge

Tristan, Morgan, and their families stayed at Hidden Moose Lodge in Whitefish, Montana during their trip, and that’s where we met them before heading into the park. Tristan and Morgan got ready at the lodge before having their first look in one of the quaint quart yards outside the rooms. Then, we piled into our vehicles and Tristan and Morgan enjoy chatting over a charcuterie board in the back seat of my car on the way to the park.

Ceremony at Avalanche Amphitheater in Glacier National Park

Avalanche Ampitheater is one of the many ceremony locations inside Glacier National Park, and one of the few that can accommodate larger groups. This location was perfect for Tristan and Morgan because they wanted a ceremony site with seating for their friends and family, but it also needed to be accessible and close to the entrance of the park because they had dinner reservations that evening.

Kate Berry officiated their ceremony and did a lovely job as always — Kate is part of the Elope Montana team and always makes ceremonies so incredibly personal and special.

Adventure Session at Lake McDonald and Belton Bridge

Part of the appeal of getting married at Avalanche Amphitheater was that after the family left the ceremony, we were able to take our time leaving the park, stopping at various locations on the way. We stopped at Lake McDonald for some stunning couples photos by the water, and Belton Bridge where the moody fog and deep greens truly showed off by the Flathead River.

Intimate Dinner at Whitefish Lake Restaurant

After getting Morgan’s dress soakedddd during our rainy adventure session, haha, we drove back to Whitefish to meet up with the rest of the crew at Whitefish Lake Restaurant for drinks, apps, and a delicious steak dinner. Tristan and Morgan’s family also gave them personal gifts to open while we waited for our food. Overall, it was seriously the most special day and I know Tristan and Morgan are so glad they opted for a smaller, more adventurous Montana wedding over their original huge wedding plan — even though they had to brave some Montana weather!
