Figuring out how to carve out time to showcase our couples exactly as they are has become such an integral part of the way we shoot — those deeply personal, beautiful human moments combined with vast Montana landscapes. There’s truly nothing like it.

And then these two — every part of their celebration of marriage was thoughtfully curated to include their closest loved ones, their faith journey, and their own unique story. It was completely them.

Vow Renewal at the Cathedral of St. Helena

Taylor and Lex are married with two stunning children, and after a move from California to Montana to start their homestead and reconnecting with their faith, they knew they wanted to participate in a ceremony within their church to celebrate their commitment and the lives they were building with one another.

The Cathedral of St. Helena is absolutely stunning, and even more-so was the intimate ceremony they had inside witnessed by their closest loved ones, who traveled from all over to celebrate the recommittment of their marriage.

Adventure Session on the Continental Divide Trailhead outside Helena, Montana

After the ceremony, we took Taylor and Lex out for an adventure session on the Continental Divide Trailhead outside of Helena — the CDT is gorgeous, so if you ever have some time to hike a bit while visiting Helena, DEFINITELY check it out. Fun fact: Taylor and Lex used to be models, so to say this shoot was a dream would be an understatement.

Intimate Family Dinner at Roosterhead Homestead

Perhaps the most special part of the day came after the “official” bit, though. Taylor and Lex hosted their family in their home for an intimate dinner. I teared up multiple times — we did family photos with their sweet kids at golden hour, and Taylor and Lex just lit up playing with and snuggling their kiddos. Then, the entire family sat down for dinner and took turns speaking life into their marriage with stories, advice, and plenty of tears and laughs. We capped off the evening with plenty of sparkling wine and dancing in their living room.
